One-piece fibreglass stormwater pump stations, built to your site and delivered ready to install.

Where stormwater can’t drain to the street or the council system by gravity, a pump station collects it and lifts it out. Mullaly stormwater pump stations come from the same one-piece fibreglass (FRP) packaged pump station range as our WSAA appraised sewage pump stations, delivered to site ready for placement with the pipework pre-fitted.

Approved for Stormwater Networks

City West Water (now part of Greater Western Water) approved Mullaly Engineering FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastic) Packaged Pump Stations for use in alternative water supply (Storm Water) and pressure sewer networks.

The same Mullaly FRP pump station range holds WSAA product appraisal PA 1020 for sewage pump stations and emergency storage tanks.

Where Stormwater Pump Stations Are Used

  • Alternative water supply (stormwater) networks
  • Basement car parks and below-street-level buildings
  • Residential subdivisions and low-lying lots
  • Commercial and industrial sites
  • Roads, underpasses and civil works
  • Shopping centres, sporting facilities and schools
  • Pumping out from on-site stormwater detention (OSD) and harvesting tanks

Configurations

Combo pump station (wet well and valve pit in one unit). The integral valve chamber minimises excavation periods and requires less space in the overall design.

Stand-alone wet well (pump pit). Used where a larger diameter is required, or where transport restrictions prevent a combo pump station being transported to site.

Separate valve pit. Protects pipes and valves from damage and corrosion, and above-ground pipework from vandalism.

Pair with a stormwater detention tank. Mullaly also makes underground fibreglass tanks from 5,000 to 150,000 litres, so the tank and pump station can come from one supplier. See industrial water tanks.

Lids and covers Aluminium access covers with lockable hinged lids and safety grates to AS 1664; ductile iron Class B, Class D or Class G covers. Class D cast iron covers are designed for vehicular traffic; standard aluminium covers are for pedestrian traffic only
Ballast Engineer-prepared ballast calculations supplied with the installation instructions, to counter hydrostatic uplift
Design life 100 years
Warranty 30-year limited product warranty. It applies to pump stations installed according to the Mullaly installation instructions, and any variation must be approved in writing by Tank Solutions before installation.
Pumps and controls Pumps, valves, controls, switchboards and other accessories to suit each water agency’s requirements. We can help coordinate pumps, controls and switchboards through our distribution partners

Why Fibreglass for Stormwater

  • Watertight, one-piece construction. 100% watertight, solid wall construction from top to bottom, with no on-site joining or sealing: no joints between precast segments and no field-applied sealants, so groundwater can’t leak in and leave the pumps clearing water that shouldn’t be there.
  • Built for wet ground. Whether installed in a fully flooded hole to grade, or in dry hole conditions with no ground water, Mullaly pump stations are carefully designed for a wide range of site conditions, with engineer-prepared ballast calculations to counter uplift.
  • Fast installation. In most cases set and backfilled within 1 to 2 days of delivery, so open excavations on a wet site don’t sit for long.
  • Lightweight. Lighter than precast concrete. Light weight reduces OH&S risk on remote sites and where access is tight.
  • Abrasion resistant. Stormwater carries grit and silt; smooth FRP walls resist abrasion from suspended grit.
  • Corrosion resistant. Premium grade vinyl ester resin, no steel reinforcement to rust, and no internal coatings or liners required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between a stormwater pump station and a sewage pump station?
A stormwater pump station handles rainwater runoff, usually in larger and more sudden volumes, while a sewage pump station handles wastewater, which is corrosive and must be fully contained. Mullaly builds both from the same fibreglass wet well and valve pit design. See sewage pump stations.

Is a stormwater pump pit the same thing?
A pump pit is the wet well that holds the pumps. A pump station is the pit plus its pumps, pipework, valves and controls. Mullaly supplies the pit fitted out with pipework and valves, and we can help coordinate pumps, controls and switchboards through our distribution partners.

What size stormwater pump station do I need?
It depends on the catchment, the design storm, the inflow rate and how much storage sits upstream. Your hydraulic engineer sets those numbers, and we build the wet well to suit. Send us the drawings or specification and we’ll quote.

Can it go under a driveway or road?
Class D cast iron hatch covers are designed for vehicular traffic. Standard aluminium covers are for pedestrian traffic only, so tell us about any traffic loads when you ask for a quote.
